Bucks Happening This Weekend: Perk up for Springfest!

This may be the busiest weekend ever in Bucks County- from Perkasie’s Springfest to Newtown’s Welcome Day to Yardley Beerfest and so much more! On Saturday, May 21st, downtown Perkasie will come alive with the sounds of music and the small of ribs-grilling this Saturday as Springfest 2011 gets underway at noon. The day’s line-up is jam packed with fun (there is seriously something for everyone). Check it out:

– Ribs-grilling and pie-baking competition & sampling

– 5K Run for a great cause

– “Rock ‘n Roll Big Wheel Race for the chance to win a trip for 2 to Jamaica!

– Tons of music with the Battle of the Bands, Music by The Mango Men Band and Zydeco-A-Go-Go

– Beer-Tasting Tent frmo 5-9pm: Sample more than a dozen microbrews provided by Banko Distributors, the Free Will Brewing Company, and You Can Brew It. Wristbands are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and are available for purchase online at www.perkasieoldetowne.org or at The Perk, Revivals Restaurant and Banquets, The Olde Towne Tavern, and JT Bankers.

– ‘Craft Alley’ on Market Street where local artisans will be out displaying and peddling their hand-made and/or unique goods (perfect for father’s day shopping!).

– The Kids’ Spot (7th and Walnut) will feature a number of inflatable rides all day ($12 for unlimited rides all day, including the trackless train). Lolly Hopwood & the Let’s Play Today Bunch, the Leapin’ Lions, and magician Barry Weaver will perform

Spring has sprung! And all weekend long, you can take advantage of it at The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program Garden Tour. Explore nine private gardens throughout Bucks County, open to the public for self-guided tours to benefit The Garden Conservancy. Special highlights of the gardens include old garden roses, a sizable nineteenth-cent​ury apple orchard, a terraced hillside many sitting places, formal parterres, and a collection of green and black flowering plants. No are reservations required.

On Sunday, May 22nd, Puck in Doylestown hosts the Perfect Pairing: Beer & Dinner Tasting with Collesi Beer. The dinner includes six courses including homemade lamb meatballs served with a savory plumb sauce and steak skewers marinated in Tripple with roasted sweet potato and onion. Cost is $40 per person or $75 per couple.
