Hunterdon County vineyards recognized for excellence by wine enthusiast

The widely recognized experts at Wine Enthusiast recently bestowed honors on local vineyards Unionville Vineyards, Alba Vineyards, Beneduce Vineyards.  Founded in 1979, Wine Enthusiast is the world’s number one source for wine accessories, storage, information, education, events and travel, and is a driving force in the marketplace.
In their recent piece, titled “How New Jersey is Producing Some of the Best Wines in the East,” Wine Enthusiast point out that “quality exists if you know where to look. New Jersey’s top estates are producing some of the best bottles in the east, on par with anything found in New York or Virginia.

John Cifelli, general manager at Unionville Vineyards and executive director of the Winemakers Co-Op, gives some additional insight in the article.  Of this group of New Jersey wineries, he says, ““The next era of wine drinkers are anti-wine establishment and reject the notion of preconception.”

Shad’Toberfest Canceled

As you may have heard, Lambertville was devastated by flooding from Ida.

We decided to cancel Shad’Tober. The decision was not reached lightly. However, we could not burden the already stressed infrastructure of the City. The festival brings thousands of visitors to Lambertville and that burden would not help our City right now. The need in Lambertville is great with over half the homes in the City affected by Hurricane Ida’s unprecedented flooding. There are some people that will spend a year getting their house back to a livable condition and some who will never return to their beloved homes because of the severe damage they sustained. In light of this tragedy, we are working on a fundraiser to benefit those flood victims hit hardest by
Hurricane Ida. Stay tuned for details.
